Conway's Game of Life

Four rules. Spaceships, factories, computers.

A cell on a grid is born if it has exactly three live neighbours, survives with two or three, dies otherwise. From those four lines unfold gliders, glider guns, oscillators, replicators — and, fully working, a Turing machine. People have built Game of Life inside Game of Life.

2 or 3 neighbours → survive · exactly 3 → birth · else → death
