Wang Tiles
Square tiles with coloured edges, secretly a computer
A Wang tile is a unit square whose four edges carry colours. Tiles must be placed so adjacent edges match; rotation is forbidden. With the right finite set of tiles you can simulate any Turing machine — and force the tiling pattern to never repeat. Computation and aperiodicity, hiding in colour matching.
